This grant-funded position is subject to renewal annually based on grant funding availability.
Primary Purpose:
Work under the supervision of the classroom teacher to provide small group instruction or support to whole group instruction.
Qualifications:
Education: Certification: Bachelors Required Certified Teacher required
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of reading strategies and an overview of reading skills Knowledge of math strategies and an overview of math skills Knowledge of science strategies and an overview of science skills Ability to operate personal computer and educational software Ability to work with students and teachers effectively Ability to communicate effectively
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support: • Assist teachers and students in reading, math, and science. • Work cooperatively with teachers to identify student placement in instructional enrichment groupings. • Input data and maintain student progress and use of instructional programs. • Assist teachers within their classrooms with students that need additional assistance or time on instructional objectives. • With direction from teacher, arrange and perform mini lessons and assessments.
Student Management: • Aide with managing student behavior in the classroom. • Help supervise students during arrival and dismissal from groupings centers and labs.
Other: • Maintain confidentiality. • Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as needed.

Equipment Used: Personal computer, printer, and copier.
Working Conditions: Mental Demands: Moderate standing, bending, and stooping.
Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress.
