Job Story
As a tutor with TRIO Disability Support Services, you will meet weekly with students to help them become self-sufficient, independent learners and assist them in understanding areas and topics in courses with which they are experiencing difficulty.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
Tutor must be currently enrolled at WSU as an undergraduate/graduate student
Must be of sophomore or higher class standing
A strong academic background in the subjects to be tutored
Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
Must have a B or better in the course to be tutored
Must have proficient English-speaking skills
Transfer students must have completed at least one full semester at WSU

Preferred Qualifications
Applicants who have taken the course(s) they wish to tutor at Wichita State University
Experience tutoring or working with individuals with disabilities

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
