Job Description: A Tutor possesses special skills or training in a specific subject area or field, who is employed to provide individual or small group instructional reinforcement. A tutor may be a currently enrolled Polk State student or a person with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, or an equivalent number of credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university. Tutors must demonstrate proficiency in the subjects in which they tutor and have taken and passed with a grade of "B" or better in the course(s) in which they will tutor.
Essential Functions/Duties Provide individual or small group instructional reinforcement for disabled students. Maintains confidentiality at all times regarding student, office records, and information. Performs all tasks with a friendly, professional work attitude at all times.
Typical Qualifications Required Skills: • Good reading and writing skills • Ability to write legibly • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with patience • Ability to work well with a diverse student population • Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated • Well-developed interpersonal skills • Good judgment
Required Education: Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent). Preferred Education: A.S. degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
