Working Title TxCHSE (GED) Instructor - Kermit Extension Center Position Status Part Time Department Transitional Learning Center General Summary
This is a part-time teaching position at the Odessa College Kermit Extension Center. The position will primarily function as a TxCHSE (GED) Instructor.
Specific Position Duties
Conduct instruction using a classroom approach of teacher facilitation, group learning, class projects, and individual student work;
Submit lesson plans which conform to College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults to the TxCHSE Coordinator in a timely manner;
Create a classroom environment that promotes active learning;
Ability to maintain a professional teacher/student productive relationship;
Ability to work under high energy, high pressure situations;
Strong problem solving skills;
Implement a variety of instructional methods and techniques and make full use of technology available at the Odessa College TxCHSE Program;
Make a substitute instruction plan for substitutes when appropriate;
Evaluate students' progress regularly;
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by Odessa College and the Texas Workforce Commission;
Carry out all duties deemed necessary for the success of the program;
Collaborate with other instructional coaches to create a positive learning culture;
Function within the policies and administrative procedures of Odessa College;
Keep up with new teaching methods and update teaching style to reflect changes;
Skill in displaying empathy and a sincere desire to help others in helping themselves;
Attend meetings and in-service training as required; and
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
Texas Teaching Certificate
Specialized training in best practices and differentiation of instruction
Training in Contextualized Instruction
Experience in Adult Basic Education, or related field;
