Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Aircraft Wiring Technician for its Baltimore, MD location.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for fabricating, constructing, testing, troubleshooting and installing power and signal cable harnesses, electrical distribution boxes, and related avionics components on NGMS test‑bed aircraft. Work is to be performed from wiring schematics, block diagrams, rough outlines, and oral/written instructions in support of systems‑development and test activities.

WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:

PERFORM WORK OF EQUAL OR LOWER SKILL LEVEL AS REQUIRED.

  1. Fabrication and Assembly: Design/layout electrical boxes (power breakout, signal routing, terminal strips, fuses, circuit breakers, copper bus bars). Perform cutting, drilling, bending, strain‑relief, chafe protection, and over‑jacket routing of wire bundles. Mastery of connector crimping across all major connector systems (38999, 5015, Micro‑D, Ethernet, coaxial, etc.) and labeling using wire‑labelling equipment (e.g., Sumitomo or equivalent). Perform light sheet metal and aircraft fastener work related to the primary function.

  2. Design Review: Actively participate and provide feedback in the design development cycle on wiring safety (hot‑pin hazards, overloads, environmental concerns) and ensure compliance with FAA AC 43.13‑1B Chapter 11.

  3. Installation & Coordination: Install cables and components in aircraft; liaise with engineering, maintenance, inspection, and modification teams to track status and obtain quality verification.

  4. Testing & Validation:Perform resistance, continuity, and "ring‑out" checks; validate assemblies against specifications.

  5. Documentation & Reporting: Update work orders in Service Now Work Request system and/or CAMP and submit fabricated parts for inspection.Accurately document all fabrication and maintenance actions, inspections, and repairs in accordance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and quality standards.

  6. Safety & Compliance: Follow company policies, Title 14 CFR (FAA) regulations, and applicable ASTM standards; wear required PPE and adhere to hangar safety practices. Demonstrate superior and careful workmanship at all times.

  7. Other related responsibilities: Maintain the work area in clean, organized and professional manner with particular attention to safety.Support flight line activities and aircraft deployment activities as required.Responsible for safeguarding and maintaining company assets.

  8. Physical demands: Ability to climb, twist, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel and crawl, move in tight quarters in and around aircraft.Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods.Capable of lifting, moving, pulling and pushing objects weighing up to 35 lbs.Manual dexterity required for fabricating wiring harnesses, cable routing, pinning, soldering and crimping activities.

  9. Soft Skills: Ability to identify issues, analyze potential solutions, think critically and creatively, and take necessary steps to solve problems.Ability to foresee what needs to be accomplished to complete a project.Ability to identify key tasks and allocate time and resources effectively to generate positive outcomes.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

High School Diploma or recognized equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Required:

  1. 5 years related experience

  2. Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance

Preferred:

  1. 10 years related experience

  2. FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate (or FAA Airframe Certificate)

  3. FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL)

  4. ASTM Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) Certificate at Master or Journeyman level or equivalent industry certification

  5. IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certifications

  6. Experience with FAA Advisory Circular 43.13-1B Chapter 11
