Position Description
The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) invites applications for the position of Continuing Educator III. Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) formerly known as UCSB Extension has served the community for more than 75 years, extending the teaching mission of UC Santa Barbara beyond the campus. Over the past decade, PaCE has enrolled more than 20,000 students and community members. PaCE is a self-supporting unit with more than 20 FTEs, over 100 instructors, and an annual budget approaching $10 million. The division offers approximately 200 courses with more than 7,500 enrollments annually, and its International Programs serve over 500 students each year. PaCE provides certificate programs and professional development for UC Santa Barbara students, lifelong learning opportunities for professional growth, career-oriented training aligned with current workforce needs, and educational offerings for pre-college and non-matriculated students. In addition, PaCE designs and delivers customized employee training programs for companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
Responsibilities
The PaCE Associate Dean Continuing Educator III is responsible for independent administration, management, development, and coordination of all academic programs offered by PaCE. As a member of the executive leadership team, this role plays a critical part in shaping Extensions program growth and development strategy while overseeing a diverse portfolio of educational offerings that serve the needs of Santa Barbara, California, and beyond. The Associate Dean serves as PaCEs primary community liaison on- and off-campus, including peer Extensions.
Duties Include:
This position is not remote. On-site presence will be required on at least a hybrid basis, 2 days per week in-office, depending on departmental and organizational needs.
