Position description The Department of Professional and Continuing Education Extension at the University of California Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary part-time instructora to teach on-site for the MasterScholars Summer Program 2026 offered in collaboration with KSE Global. We are seeking qualified applicants who possess current subject matter expertise and have a passion for teaching in the following programs and courses.

Introduction to Research Methods Instructor duties include but are not limited to Prepare and deliver course materials and design learning assessments. Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning. Stay current within the subject discipline or field of practice. Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students and clearly outlineexplain the grading policies for the course. Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner. Employ teaching methodologies that support the academic success of students with a variety of backgrounds experiences and learning styles Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and assign grades. Employ culturally competent and inclusive teaching methodologies in the classroom including teaching non-native speakers andor students with academic letters of accommodations for learning disabilities. Use subject-matter expertise and leverage additional resources appropriately to enhance the curriculum. Participate in program preparation meetings with the Program Manager before and throughout the duration of the program

Compensation includes payment for instructional hours meetings course development and grading responsibilities.

Screening of applicants begins immediately after the Initial Review Date has passed some appointments may begin as early as the 2026 summer quarter. The number of these temporary part-time non-tenure track academic positions varies from quarter to quarter depending on the needs of the department. Appointments are offered on a course-by-course basis and appointment length is based upon course section schedules. Appointments may be renewable based on need funding and performance.

Qualifications Basic qualifications required at time of application A Masters degree in a related field or a minimum of one professional certification in a relevant field Minimum one year of Teaching Assistant TA experience Minimum one year experience teaching at the university or college level e.g. Lecturer Adjunct Instructor or Professor Subject matter expertise

Preferred qualifications Combination of Masters degree and over 3 years experience in relevant field or with subject matter expertise PhD in related field Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems LMS software tools. Experience teaching high school students
