Licenses and Certifications
(S) - ARDMS or ARRT – Sonography (Required)
RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Med (Required)
BCLS - Basic Life Support

Essential Functions
Perform ultrasound examinations under the direct supervision of a registered sonographer.
Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures, explain examinations, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
Obtain patient history and verify exam orders.
Operate ultrasound equipment according to departmental protocols and safety standards.
Acquire sonographic images and measurements as directed by the supervising sonographer.
Assist with patient transport, positioning, and exam room preparation.
Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment cleanliness.
Enter accurate patient and examination information into the electronic medical record and imaging systems.
Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
Follow all hospital, departmental, HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety policies.
Participate in quality improvement and educational activities as assigned.
The Ultrasound Student Technician may perform scanning duties only under the direct supervision of a registered diagnostic medical sonographer.
The supervising sonographer is responsible for reviewing all images and findings obtained by the student.
All imaging examinations performed by the student must be rescanned, verified, and finalized by a registered sonographer before physician interpretation.
The student technician may not independently perform, interpret, or release diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
