Provides sonography/ultrasound services within the Vascular Surgery Clinic.  He/she must have an enhanced knowledge in the area of sonography/ultrasound. They must have the specific expertise and skills necessary for maintaining a safe sonography/ultrasound environment daily. They must know basic anatomy, physiology and physics as it pertains to sonography/ultrasound patient care.

1. Provides imaging services and transportation to patients of all ages. Provides patients and families with thorough explanations and adequate communication.
2. Upholds all safety standards related to assigned position. Follows the established protocols, practices and guidelines for assigned area of expertise to provide quality service.
3. Maintains records and files related to echocardiograms and other imaging studies as required.
4. Practices good stewardship with supplies, equipment and department resources to assist in maintaining the financial viability of the DCH Health System.
5. Understands clinical history, supply and exam charges. Follows billing practices.
6. Correlates clinical history with the exam(s) being performed.
7. Performs duties necessary to maintain accreditation.
8. Maintains a safe and clean ultrasound environment.
9. Participates in ultrasound QC and completes appropriate documentation for all ultrasound equipment.
10. Works with the manager/supervisor/staff to control and maintain inventory and supplies and communicates problems and supply needs as required.
11. Understands, utilizes and takes responsibility for the care, cleaning and maintenance of all imaging, transport and office supplies, equipment and software as required by assigned area. 
12. Functions proficiently in specified area with little or no supervision.
13. Attends in-service programs, required training/education, and unit/department/service meetings.
14. Performs all assignments in a timely manner, establishes priorities of care and related assigned duties; effectively organizes work day.

• Must fulfill the graduation and registration requirements as follows:

Ultrasound Technician/Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – Must be registry eligible by the ARDMS. Should obtain certification as RDMS and RVT (RVS) within 24-months of eligibility. New hire registered sonographers must be RDMS and RVT (RVS) within 12 months of hire date.

RDMS – must have current ultrasound registration by the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers). Should obtain RVT (RVS) certification within 24-months of eligibility.
