Job Details

The Perinatal/Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer will perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound examinations for pregnant patients in collaboration with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians and the multidisciplinary obstetric care team. This will perform high-risk obstetric imaging, fetal anatomy, fetal growth assessment, Doppler studies while maintaining exceptional patient care and adherence to professional and regulatory standards.

Job duties

  • Perform high-quality obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations according to AIUM and ACR guidelines.
  • Conduct comprehensive first, second, and third trimester fetal anatomy surveys.
  • Perform fetal biometry, growth assessments, amniotic fluid evaluations, cervical length measurements, and biophysical profiles.
  • Obtain fetal Doppler studies including umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery (MCA), ductus venosus, and uterine artery Dopplers as clinically indicated.
  • Assist physicians during invasive prenatal procedures including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), fetal procedures, and selective reduction when applicable.
  • Accurately identify and document fetal anatomy and suspected congenital anomalies.
  • Recognize urgent or abnormal findings and promptly communicate results to the interpreting physician.
  • Produce complete, accurate, and timely ultrasound documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure quality assurance standards are met.
  • Educate patients regarding ultrasound procedures while providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, genetic counselors, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, accreditation activities, and continuing education.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry /certification or currently holds required registry or certification
  • Knowledge of RIS systems
  • Knowledge of PAC’s systems
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association
  • RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
