Unit is seeking an experienced Ultrasound Technologist (General Sonographer) to provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services in an outpatient Indian Health Service facility. This position is ideal for an independent sonographer who is comfortable working autonomously while performing a broad range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations for patients of all ages.

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing general ultrasound imaging, including abdominal, vascular, obstetric, and small-parts examinations while maintaining exceptional patient care and image quality.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations following physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Conduct General, Abdominal, Pelvic, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Soft Tissue, and Limited Vascular ultrasound studies.
  • Prepare patients by explaining procedures, obtaining medical histories, and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Operate and optimize Client LOGIQ Ultrasound Systems to obtain diagnostic-quality images.
  • Recognize abnormal findings and provide complete image documentation for radiologist interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using the RPMS Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Evaluate image quality and repeat scans when necessary to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment, perform routine quality assurance checks, and report equipment issues.
  • Follow all infection prevention, patient safety, radiation safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to support timely diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures and answer questions professionally.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment readiness throughout each shift.
  • Work independently while effectively managing daily patient schedules.

  • Thyroid Studies
  • Soft Tissue Imaging
  • Limited Vascular Studies

Equipment & Technology

  • Ultrasound Equipment: Client LOGIQ
  • EMR System: RPMS (Resource and Patient Management System)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
  • Minimum recent experience as a General Ultrasound Technologist.
  • Comfortable working independently without onsite sonographer support.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and sonographic imaging techniques.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a rural healthcare environment.

Required Credentials

  • RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) – Required
  • ARRT Certification (if applicable/required by facility)
  • Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Degree or Certificate Program
  • Real ID
  • US Citizenship
