Job Responsibilities:

• Uses ultrasound equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves to a prescribed area of the patients body and capture quality images that describe the composition, shape, and motion of tissues, organs, vessels, and pathology.
• Provides direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate.
• Positions patients and equipment, prepares patients for procedures, and continually monitors and records vital signs.
• Observes for reactions and signs of impending complications and intervenes as needed.
• Summarizes documents, verifies, and presents images, findings, calculations, and measurements to physicians for diagnoses.
• Adheres to ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, precautions, and standards.
• Prepares rooms and patients for subsequent ultrasound procedures.
• Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
• Verifies operational status of equipment prior to daily utilization.
• Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services.
• Follows hospital-wide and department-specific safety and infection control standards.
• Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols to ensure effective departmental operations and quality patient care.
• Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
• Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.

Requirements:

• Associates Degree (AA) in Radiology or equivalent from a two-year college or hospital-based program
• Two (2) years experience in Ultrasound desired
• ARDMS and BLS certification required
• Certification in General Vascular and OBGYN desired
