Job Summary
Provides health care services applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in the following areas: OBGYN, abdomen, pediatric, extremities, and vascular procedures. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patients conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Essential Job Qualifications
Education: Graduate from an A.M.A. approved school of Sonography
Experience: 2 years experience preferred
License: RDMS or ARRT S- Strongly preferred. Unregistered sonographers must be registered within one year of hire date.
Working Conditions
Manual: Some manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity
Occupational: Some occupational risk
Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
