Description:
Job Title: Vascular Ultrasound Technologist
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full‑time)

Position Summary
  • The Vascular Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic vascular ultrasound procedures upon the order of a qualified healthcare provider, following the policies, procedures, and protocols of the Radiology Department. Depending on the clinic location, responsibilities may include performing venous and/or arterial studies. The technologist will also utilize the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for imaging workflow, documentation, and image archiving. Additional technical or non‑technical duties may be assigned based on training, experience, and required credentials.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Ultrasound Duties
  • Perform vascular ultrasound studies—including venous and/or arterial exams—according to departmental protocols.
  • Apply technical principles to ensure optimal image production, recognizing anatomical orientation and potential anomalies.
  • Appropriately seek physician intervention during exams as outlined in departmental policies.
  • Provide initial assessment and properly document atypical conditions that may affect image quality or diagnostic interpretation.
  • Maintain full awareness of ultrasound safety measures and use sterile technique when necessary.
Technical Quality & Equipment Maintenance
  • Participate in routine Technical Quality Control measures.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and report malfunctions or performance issues to the Radiology Supervisor or designated lead.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and complete required cleaning logs.
Information Systems Workflow
  • Properly use the RIS for all clerical and workflow processes in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Upload, verify, and troubleshoot images within PACS; report transmission issues beyond the technologist’s scope.
Patient Care & Communication
  • Communicate effectively with patients, adapting to age‑specific communication needs.
  • Convey clear instructions to facilitate accurate and efficient ultrasound studies.
  • Interact professionally with physicians, radiologists, supervisors, co‑workers, and staff at other clinic locations.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Professional Standards & Training
  • Participate in department in‑services, formal training, and site‑specific education programs.
  • Maintain required licenses and certifications, completing necessary continuing education.
  • May perform additional duties, technical or non‑technical, as assigned based on qualifications.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited program
  • Minimum 2 years of direct clinical experience in vascular ultrasound
  • Minimum 1 year cumulative experience in venous sonography
