The Ultrasound Technologist utilizes ultrasound equipment to provide diagnostic sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological and anatomical data. This role is responsible for providing services on-call for after-hours and emergency cases, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Working under direct supervision, the Ultrasound Technologist ensures accuracy and quality of ultrasound examinations, enabling physicians to make informed decisions about patient care, and contribute to providing patients with an optimal overall health care experience.
Essential Job Function:
Performs high-quality routine and special ultrasound examinations following established protocols and procedures to minimize repeat examinations and assist in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients, ensuring optimal patient care.
Ensures the safety and comfort of patients during ultrasound procedures by explaining the process, addressing concerns, and positioning patients correctly to promote a positive patient experience.
Operates and maintains ultrasound equipment, troubleshoots technical issues, and optimizes imaging parameters to produce high-quality images and ensure accurate interpretations by radiologists or physicians.
Documents and records accurate patient information, examination details, and preliminary findings in Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), resolves any errors related to the final product being sent to PACS to maintain proper patient records and ensure comprehensive documentation for effective communication and continuity of care.
Collaborates and communicates effectively with the healthcare team, including radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated patient care and prompt sharing of critical findings.

Education:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program.
Experience:
Required: 2+ years
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider. ARDMS Ultrasound Technologist, ARRT RT(S) Ultrasound Technologist or CCI RVSRVT/RVS Registered Vascular Technologist required for sites without onsite Vascular Lab (APH, ARMC, & MedCenters). Where required, all current Cone Health Sonographers will have 2-years to successfully complete RVT requirement. Any new candidate sonographer will have 16 months to successfully complete RVT requirement. Additional Information on required licensure/certification/registry/listings: OB/GYN and/or ABDOMEN and/or BREAST and/or VASCULAR and/or PEDS.
Preferred: RVT/RVS Registered Vascular Technologist preferred for sites with onsite Vascular Lab (MCH & WLH).
