Unarmed Security Guard

Schedule:

The Unarmed Security Guard will provide on-site coverage Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding Federal holidays. Continuous guard coverage must be maintained throughout all required service hours.

Summary:

The Unarmed Security Guard will provide professional security, patrol, access-control, and emergency-response support at the Fairbanks VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Fairbanks, Alaska, while maintaining a safe environment for Veterans, staff, visitors, and Government property.

Requirements:

• Must have at least one year of security guard experience and meet applicable Alaska security guard licensing requirements.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and successfully satisfy required background investigations, drug screening, and VA access requirements.
• Must demonstrate strong communication, conflict-resolution, de-escalation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be physically capable of conducting regular interior and exterior foot patrols and responding promptly to security incidents.

Duties:

• Conduct a minimum of 8 interior and 4 exterior foot patrols each day, including required closing patrols.
• Monitor the main entrance/security post, provide access control, and maintain awareness of activities throughout the facility.
• Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, behavioral concerns, alarms, and requests for assistance using appropriate de-escalation procedures.
• Coordinate with VA personnel, emergency services, and local law enforcement as necessary and maintain required security logs and incident documentation.
