Job Title: Undergraduate Academic AdvisorDepartment: University Advising Center, Division of Academic Affairs and Provost, University of South CarolinaLocation: Columbia, SC (Richland County)Pay Range: $48,348 - $58,348 (Anticipated Hiring Range)Work Schedule: Standard: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; must be willing to work flexible hours as needed.ResponsibilitiesProvide individual advising to approximately 300 assigned students, supporting academic planning, progression, and campus engagement.Maintain systematic contact with advisees, monitor academic performance, identify students at risk, and intervene with targeted supports.Record all student interactions accurately and confidentially in electronic systems such as EAB Navigate, Self‑Service Carolina, Scheduling Software, Degree Works, etc.Assist students with registration issues and utilize technology tools to facilitate advising.Participate in campus events, develop advising materials, and serve as a resource for faculty and staff for assigned colleges/schools.Conduct degree audits, monitor enrollment activities, propose strategies to address academic difficulties, and refer students to counseling, financial aid, and other support services.Offer evening advising hours as required and promote student participation in high‑impact practices.Engage in ongoing training and certification, stay current with institutional policies, and apply appreciative and developmental advising techniques.Prepare and present reporting on advising activities and contribute to department reporting needs.QualificationsMinimum: Master's degree in a related field plus 1 year of advising experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of experience.Preferred: Master's degree and 1 year of advising experience.Knowledge of undergraduate advising practices, student services, campus resources, and university policies.Proficiency with technology and a thorough understanding of University policies, procedures, and functions.Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills.Strong organizational and coordination abilities, with flexibility to handle changing schedules and stressful conditions.Capacity to exercise confidentiality, independent initiative, sound judgment, and professional discretion.BenefitsHealth and Life InsuranceRetirement ProgramsPaid Tuition13 Paid Holidays (including an extended December holiday)Awarded professional development opportunitiesPaid parental leaveEEO StatementThe University of South Carolina does not discriminate in educational or employment opportunities or decisions for qualified persons on the basis of age, ancestry, citizenship status, color, disability, ethnicity, familial status, gender (including transgender), gender identity or expression, genetic information, HIV/AIDS status, military status, national origin, pregnancy, race, religion (including religious dress and grooming practices), sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other bases under federal, state, local law, or regulations.#J-18808-Ljbffr
