This posting is to fill two available openings at SEAS. The SEAS/PitE Student Center is seeking two Career Advisors to support our Graduate and Undergraduate audiences. Applicants to this posting should indicate a preference for either role, if applicable, but applicants will be considered for both positions. The Graduate Career Services Advisor supports graduate students and alumni by developing and delivering career programming, professional development workshops, career resources, peer advisor training, employer/alumni-connected events, and technology-based career support. This position emphasizes scalable career services that reach groups of students through workshops, events, online resources, presentations, and structured programming.

The Undergraduate Career Services Advisor supports undergraduate career readiness, internship access, employment preparation, and career pathway development through programming, employer engagement, alumni connections, communications, and group-based advising. This position places primary emphasis on creating and coordinating opportunities that connect undergraduate students with employers, alumni, internship programs, and career development resources.

These positions are included in the bargaining unit represented by University Staff United, AFT Local 284, AFL-CIO, which represents Employees in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Responsibilities*

Both of these positions will include the following responsibilities. Please note that the full job descriptions for each are linked in the Job Summary section above.

Career Programming & Student Support

• Design and deliver career development events for students
• Collaborate with faculty and employers to develop resources and events
• Build scalable, self-service tools for career preparation
• Recruit alumni, employers, and professionals for career fairs, networking events, and panels
• Assess student needs using participation data, feedback, and employment trends

Employer & Alumni Engagement

• Serve as a liaison for employers and alumni seeking to connect with students
• Collaborate with employer relations and alumni relations staff to facilitate events
• Partner across departments to coordinate career events and ensure they are well-promoted, accessible, and aligned with student interests

Internship & Employment Opportunity Development

• Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Experiential Learning, center staff, and PitE Director to identify priority employers and industries
• Serve as a primary student-facing contact for promoting opportunities for students
• Develop and manage internship programs and recruitment events

Data Management, Technology & Communications

• Track and report student participation in events
• Use industry data to inform career services offerings
• Develop regular, student-friendly communications
• Maintain and update career resources, session recordings, and website content

Peer Advisor Training & Resource Development

• Train and support student peer advisors
• Develop and maintain career toolkits, templates, and self-service resources for students, alumni, staff, and faculty
• Review graduate student career materials

Campus Partnerships & Joint Programming

• Partner with campus resources and faculty to connect students to university-wide career resources
• Participate in relevant campus committees and working groups
• Represent Career Services in meetings and programs involving campus partners

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor's degree and at least three years experience in a field relating to higher education or career development, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working in higher education or the environment and sustainability field
• Ability to effectively integrate technology into work, workshops, and events
• Experience with collaborating on and implementing strategic plans
• Familiarity with FERPA and other government policies related to higher education
• Experience managing a portfolio of career development programs and student advising appointments.
• Demonstrated history of excellent verbal and written communication skills while collaborating with a diverse community of students, staff, faculty, and partner organizations.

Desired Qualifications*

• A Master's degree or a degree in a STEM related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience working in career services or academic advising
• Familiarity with website design and improving availability and accessibility of resources for stakeholders/customers

Modes of Work

This position may be eligible for remote and/or flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment. This position is expected to be a hybrid work arrangement, on-campus for 2 days per week.
