This role ensures productive, cost‑effective, and compliant extraction of ore while maintaining the highest standards of safety, ground control, and environmental stewardship.Key Responsibilities Design and optimize underground mine layouts, including development, stoping, and infrastructure plansPrepare short‑ and long‑term mine plans, schedules, and production forecastsDevelop and assess mine development and production cycles from first principlesSupport drilling, blasting, ventilation, and haulage system design and performanceMonitor production performance and implement continuous improvement initiativesEnsure compliance with MSHA, local, and company safety, environmental, and operational standardsCollaborate with geology, operations, maintenance, and safety teamsPrepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and budget estimatesSupport capital project evaluations and implementationProvide technical guidance to operations personnel and junior engineersMinimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, civil engineering or a related engineering discipline and 6+ years of experience in underground mining operations or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationPreferred Qualifications 12+ years of experience in underground mining operationsBilingual (English & Spanish) ability in order to communicate technical requirements related to projectsProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license or eligibility for licensureExperience with North American underground mining operationsExposure to ventilation design, paste backfill, or mechanized mining systemsLeadership or supervisory experience will be considered a plusStrong understanding of underground mining methods (e.g., cut‑and‑fill, longhole stoping, room and pillar)Working knowledge of ground control principles and mine safety regulationsProficiency in mine planning and design software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, AutoCAD)Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsProficient in written and verbal communication in Spanish.Additional Information Combination of office‑based engineering work and underground fieldworkRegular exposure to underground mine environmentsMay require rotating shifts or on‑call support during critical operationsAs an Equal Opportunity Employer, we believe in your potential and are here to help you achieve it.
