    Description



    Installs underground utility pipe for water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and drainage systems in support of Morgan Corp.’s heavy civil construction projects. Works collaboratively with equipment operators, foremen, and crew members to ensure utilities are installed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and company standards.


    Key Responsibilities


    Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities
    • Install underground utility pipe, including water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and drainage systems, according to project plans and specifications.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, laser levels, transit equipment, and other layout information to ensure accurate pipe installation.  
    • Direct equipment operators during excavation, pipe placement, bedding, backfilling, and trench operations. 
    • Verify pipe alignment, grade, and elevation throughout the installation process.
    • Coordinate material needs with the Top Man, equipment operators, and foreman to maintain efficient production.
    •  Inspect trenches and work areas to ensure compliance with OSHA trench safety requirements and company safety policies. 
    •  Identify equipment or safety concerns and promptly report them to the Foreman.
    • Clean, inspect, and maintain assigned tools and equipment.
    • Work collaboratively with the construction crew to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule. 
    Additional Duties
    • Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
    • Participate in required safety meetings and training.
    • Assist with general labor duties as needed.
    • Extended hours, overtime, weekends, and/or night shifts may be required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned. 

    Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


    Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of underground utility pipe installation experience required.
    • Experience installing water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems preferred.
    •  Experience reading construction blueprints, utility plans, grade stakes, and laser systems preferred.
    • Knowledge of OSHA excavation and trench safety requirements preferred.
    Other Requirements
    • Valid driver’s license required. 
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
    • Position must follow Morgan Corp.’s Fit for Duty Physical Program.
    • Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and/or night shifts as project schedules require.
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and other environmental conditions common to heavy civil construction.
    • Strong commitment to Morgan Corp.’s safety policies, procedures and OSHA regulations.
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills. 
    • Ability to solve problems and adapt to changing job site conditions and limited supervision.
