Title: Underwriting Assistant
Duration: 06+ Months contract (20-40Hrs/ week)
Location: Atlanta, GA 30092

Position Description:
 The Underwriting Assistant will work closely with the underwriting team to streamline the policy issuance and renewal process. This role focuses on maintaining efficient day-to-day workflows of information and policy documents and providing exceptional service to agents and clients.
The Underwriting Assistant will work under the guidance of staff underwriters and will be expected to perform the following tasks including but not limited to:

  • Assist staff underwriters in processing new and renewal applications, issue policies, produce certificates of insurance, gather underwriting data. , and professionally correspond with Agents.
  • Prepare renewal notices to agents via e-mail. 
  • Process policy endorsements using policy management system as directed by staff underwriters.  Training on use of policy management system will be provided.
  • Process cancellations, using policy management system to determine return premium, process credit memos in system for accounting purposes, prepare notices of cancellation to insureds via certified mail.
  • Record policy payments and verify against coverage bound.
  • Maintain general and monthly policy registers in relation to new policies as well as renewal, cancelled, and lapsed policies.
  • File policies and policy documents into electronic policy files.
  • Print, envelope, and mail notices to insureds in relation to the Annual Shareholders meetings.
  • Perform other miscellaneous administrative duties as may be required.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school graduate; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Insurance experience a plus.
