Job Description
A typical day for a Case Coordinator will include reviewing Simple Term and Juvenile applications, managing requirements for fully underwritten products, communicating with agencies and vendors, and providing support as needed for the Underwriting team.
Case Coordinators will work in multiple Life Company systems and vendor portals.
They will ensure applications are in good order and proceed smoothly and efficiently through the underwriting process.
Responsibilities
Agency inquiries
Handling vendor and requirement related phone calls and emails that are directed to the Underwriting team, consulting an underwriter and/or escalating to the Vendor Management team only as needed.
Assisting underwriters with other inquiries as needed.
Managing requirements
Transitioning from EHR to Client when EHR is not found or deemed insufficient by an underwriter
Investigating and resolving problems obtaining medical records; monitoring VendorAPS@amfam.com mailbox
Responding to vendor inquiries and updates about interviews, medical exams and medical records
Switching exam vendors when needed
Responding to customer drop requests relayed by vendors
Locating missing lab results
Reprocessing failed orders when there are vendor system issues
Obtaining wet signature for the interview when the customer declines a voice signature
Reviewing requirements for pending applications when the customer decides to not follow through with an internal replacement
Reviewing evidence following demographic info changes and reordering as needed
Ensuring HIPAA auth compliance following a demographic info change
Reviewing requirements and creating amendment notes for coverage changes
Reviewing beneficiary changes and triaging to an underwriter as needed
Managing the underwriting caseload
Monitoring pending applications, taking action to eliminate bottlenecks and prevent delays, and dropping inactive cases
Proactively following up with agency staff for misc. requirements
Listening to interview recordings as needed per underwriter request
Requesting MIB details
Managing documents
Monitoring the unmatched mail queue
Uploading underwriting documents to electronic document storage system as needed
Bankruptcy hotline calls to verify bankruptcy status
Handling special requests for underwriting found on the App Part 1
Sending ad hoc letters (e.g. mailing lab results to customers upon request)
Underwriting triage
Handling Simple Term referrals for product and total coverage limits, previously declined or rated associated policies, and MIB
Responding to agency inquiries about Simple Term underwriting decisions
Ordering requirements for Express Review Light Touch cases
Jet underwriting of juvenile applications and triaging to underwriters as needed
Jet underwriting and triaging of Group Life evidence of insurability (EOI) forms
Submitting facultative cases to reinsurers
Managing requirements and processing underwriting decisions for Now & Forever II applications
