Overview:
Support the development, analysis, and continuous improvement of underwriting strategies, rules, and workflow processes by conducting research at the direction of Director, Underwriting Research. Work collaboratively with other departments to provide analytical support, monitor emerging trends, contribute to underwriting process enhancements, including automation and efficiency goals.
Responsibilities:
• Independently manage multiple priorities and projects, demonstrating ownership from initiation through completion, and consistently meeting established time deliverables.
• Perform in-depth data analysis of underwriting opportunities to assess mortality and process effectiveness trends and make recommendations that advance automation goals and align our underwriting approach with mortality results and efficiency goals.
• Support the analysis and creation of future development of traditional, accelerated, and automated underwriting rules.
• Assist with research projects related to new data sources. Leverage strong research skills to analyze tools that streamline and enhance the underwriting process.
• Translate complex research or technical findings into actionable recommendations for business, operations, and technology partners. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in reviewing and analyzing procedures and guidelines for training needs and updates to standard operating procedures (SOP). Review SOPs for content approval as needed.
• Continuously monitor advanced data analytics and visualization tools (such as Tableau, Power BI to identify trends and make recommendations on process improvements on rules and processes.
• Work as a subject matter expert on the creation and revision of application forms and the filing process.
• Lead or participate, as assigned, in reviewing strategic Underwriting opportunities for Sammons Financial Group (SFG) member companies, including possible Underwriting niches.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry related work experience Required
- Minimum 5 years' Life Underwriting experience Preferred
- Rules writing experience Preferred
- Possess excellent organizational and project management skills, with ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Strong and effective leadership, decision-making and motivational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for relationship building
- Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing deadlines within projects
- Excellent communication skills, including listening, oral, presentation and written
- Strong analytical skills in assessing medical evidence and mortality data
- Able to effectively use Excel
- Designation or working toward completion of FALU Required

Pay Range:
USD $95,198.00 - USD $158,663.00 /Yr.
