About the Role As a CBRE Union Helper, you will perform technical, and non-technical general building maintenance, and minor repair duties.This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on mechanical and HVAC equipment and systems.Responsibilities Assist the engineering staff in operating the building mechanical and HVAC systems.Assist in the maintenance and repairs of all equipment incidental to the operation of the building mechanical and HVAC systems.Perform general labor work as assigned including receiving deliveries, loading, unloading, moving materials, and putting away stock.Perform building checks of mechanical areas and logging conditions during daily rounds.Identify and report maintenance hazards or other property condition concerns.Perform housekeeping functions within all mechanical and HVAC spaces for upkeep. This includes, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and painting.Perform other minor repairs under supervision.Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.Follow a set procedure in the performance of repetitive tasks or job activities.Impact through methods, tasks, and duties which are clearly defined and followed with little to no discretion.Qualifications At least five of the following certificates of fitness issued by the New York City Fire Department:A35 - Operate and Maintain Air CompressorsF60 – Fire Guard for Torch OperationG60 – Torch OperationS12 – Citywide Sprinkler SystemS13 – Standpipe SystemS14 – Standpipe System, multi zoneS95 – Supervision of Fire Alarm SystemsF01 – Citywide Fire Guard for ImpairmentP98 – Supervise Fuel Oil TransferP99 – Low Pressure Oil Burner OperatorHigh School Diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in a 2 or 4‑year college program or technical school.May require a valid driver's license.Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.Ability to develop skills to perform basic activities in own job.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.Familiarity with Microsoft Office products. The parties recognize that management's hiring and use of helpers is essential to the industry's successful future. The position of helper is designed to be a step on the path to becoming an engineer. Hence, after January 1, 2011, it is the parties' intent that the helper classification will not be available to newly hired helpers on a "career" basis, except on the mutual consent of the Employer and Union.Pay & Benefits The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the Union Engineer Helper position is $60,091 annually (or $28.89 per hour).
