Overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all assigned Club site programs, services, and activities to ensure they support the overall mission of BGCCIBe a source of continued support, encouragement, and mentorship for all Club site staff and volunteers including their training and supervisionUtilize personal guidance, leadership skills, and progressive disciplinary practices as necessary and appropriate with members, staff and volunteers; ensure compliance with all organizational policies and proceduresIn partnership with senior management, parents, school faculty, community partners and other organizations, develop and maintain effective public relations to increase the community visibility of Club site programs, services, and activities. Provide accurate and timely documentation on activities, attendance, and participation as part of regularly scheduled reporting processesEnsure the safety and health of all Club members, staff, and outside groups at all times through effective personnel, property, and equipment managementConduct all safety walk throughs and report all work orders to DOO, DMPS, or Safety Committee & maintain compliance with BGCA and/or CCA regulationsConduct all interviews related to assigned club positionsPlan & oversee fiscal budget for designated Club sitesReview inventory and order supplies as neededAddress concerns, questions, issues of parents, teachers and or principal (including Mandatory Reporter/DHS calls & follow ups)Assure proper staffing of all programs, including strict attention to ratios for adult supervision as provided by BGCCIMeet regularly with team to ensure program needs, concerns, and problems are addressed Promotes, stimulates and recruits member program participation by contacting feeder schools and parents and ensuring a new member orientation processApprove all club site timecards & time off requests weeklyEnsure all monthly reports are completed & turned in (Fire/Tornado Drills, Preparedness Plans, CACFP, Incident Reports, etc.)Ensure employees are attending required meetings, completing mandatory trainings, engaging in professional developmentEnsure all employees receive annual evaluationsPerform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two or four- year degree from an accredited college/ university; or postsecondary education, trade, vocational, apprenticeship, or other equivalent (Club location will determine requirement qualification)
Two to five years of experience with Boys & Girls Clubs (or similar youth-serving organization)
Management experience including demonstrated leadership capabilities in recruitment, supervision, professional development and leadership of full and part time staff and volunteers
Excellent interpersonal skills (including oral and written communication) in dealing with youth, parents, community partners, staff, and volunteers
Experience in problem solving including on site intervention and discipline for Club members
Strong collaborative skills to integrate with the Des Moines Public Schools staff
Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and a record keeping/membership database (Kidtrax preferred) administration required
Familiarity with budget preparation, financial controls, and effective fiscal and asset management including facility and equipment maintenance
Skills in fostering youth development, through encouragement, engagement, involvement and emotional support
Able to interact well at various levels of the organization, as well as work with a wide variety of people and personality types
Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing priorities
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work with multiple projects concurrently, prioritize workload, and consistently meet deadlines
Positive and professional attitude and demeanor
Ability to maintain confidentiality of Club member and staff information
Valid Iowa State Drivers License and a clean driving record
Spanish language skills highly preferred, but not required
Ability to pass a background check
