Colonial Heights Health and Rehab Center in Colonial Heights, VA is seeking a qualified individual to join our growing team as Unit Secretary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides clerical support for the nursing department/unit including, but not limited to, maintenance work orders, dietary requests, laundry requests, etc.
  • Assists with patient needs and requests.
  • Answers the telephone at the nurses' station; appropriately routes calls, takes messages, and follows up on requests
  • Participates with admission/discharge/transfer processes; prepares necessary paperwork and uploads chart documents as directed.
  • Assists in tracking and scheduling labs and radiology orders and results.
  • Schedules patient appointments and arranges transportation.
  • Assist with patient appointments when needed.
  • Prepares reports for nursing administration as requested.
  • Participates in training/precepting of new staff.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for the successful operation of the healthcare center.
  • Promptly completes any required training.
PREREQUISITES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to make independent decisions and work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel, and the public.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of current standards of nursing assistant practice.
  • Must have current Certified Nursing Assistant license.
  • Must be knowledgeable of computer systems and applications.
  • Excellent customer service focus.
