Summary:
The Clinical Secretary is responsible for providing clerical support to the physicians and nursing staff in the department. Upon request provide assistance to patients under the direction of the Charge Nurse Physician or Nurse Manager. The Emergency Department Clinical Secretary is responsible for providing clerical support to the physicians and nursing staff in the Emergency Department. Upon request provide assistance to patients under the direction of the Charge Nurse Physician or Nurse Manager.

EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. Medical terminology course required. Health Unit Coordinator Course preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 2 years experience as secretary with medical background.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: N/A
OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required to key or type at least 40 corrected WPM. Knowledge of computer (Word Perfect Word Excel). Good telephone skills, good communication skills, ability to work under pressure, good planning and organizational skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Occasionally exposed to BBP (PPE required). May experience stressful work periods.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sits most of the day, some walking and standing required, frequent reaching, manual dexterity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Possible exposure to chemical hazard through use of photocopier and printer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing, walking, and sitting majority of the shift. Some reaching, carrying, and pushing wheelchairs may be involved in daily tasks.
