The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
The Unit Secretary, Geriatric Unit, assists the Director and the staff nurses by performing diversified secretarial duties. These duties include but are not limited to: filing, document storage and retrieval, reception, typing, routine record keeping, maintain supplies and equipment, maintaining monthly statistics.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
- Computer Skills (ie: Word, Excel, Windows)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Previous unit secretary or medical office experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Scheduling Requirements:
Essential Functions:
- Interacts with patients and families to help facilitate high quality patient care
- Communicates and collaborates with hospital staff, physicians, and medical offices to develop and maintain procedural schedules
- Answers phones promptly and relays information to appropriate person
- Assembles and disassembles designated charts appropriately
- Identifies and reports potential and actual patient safety issues
- Keeps medical record complete and in order
- Maintains unit supplies at appropriate par levels
- Maintains communication with the Bed Controller and cooperates with room assignments
- Performs required clerical work relating to the admission, transfer and discharge
- Reviews charts for needed forms. Charts TPR, B/P for their shift on graphic reports records. Attaches all diagnostic reports to chart.
