    Job Description Summary

    The Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical University of South Carolina seeks applicants for a tenure-eligible or tenured faculty position in the MUSC Brain & Spine Tumor program. The Program boasts demonstrated clinical excellence in Neuro-Oncology, Neurosurgery, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Neuropathology. The designated Hollings Cancer Center is the state’s only NCI designated Cancer Center with an active Clinical Trial Program.

    Responsibilities include participation in clinical activities and associated teaching activities in the Neuro-Oncology outpatient clinic and inpatient consult service. There is a strong focus on clinical trial involvement. The successful candidate will devote effort to contributing to and expanding this active clinical program. Ideally, candidates should have an interest in establishing an effective extramurally funded and independent research program or have demonstrated the ability to sustain very active research programs focusing on brain and spine cancer. Salary, rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications, experience, and scholarly achievement.

    Job Description

    Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology or Medical Oncology at the time of hire. A background in either Medical Oncology or Neurology, and Fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology is required. Candidates must have experience in clinical or basic research and a strong interest in a career in academic Neuro-Oncology.
