Job Title: Universal Representative

Reports To: Branch Manager / Teller Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Status: Full-Time

 

This position is based in the Greater Houston area. Candidates must have the flexibility to float to any Houston-area branch location based on operational and staffing needs.

 

Position Summary:

The Universal Representative delivers a seamless, full-service financial experience to credit union members. This role handles routine teller transactions, opens new accounts, assists members with service-related concerns, and identifies opportunities to cross-sell credit union products. The ideal candidate builds strong member relationships, possesses deep knowledge of financial services, and thrives in a consultative environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Member Service: Greet members warmly, answer inquiries, and resolve account discrepancies with empathy and efficiency.
  • Transactional Duties:Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and official check issuances accurately.
  • Account Ownership: Open, maintain, and close member accounts (checking, savings, CDs, IRAs) while verifying identity and eligibility.
  • Loan Origination: Interview members for consumer loans, accept applications (auto, personal, credit card), and input data for underwriting.
  • Consultative Selling: Analyze member financial profiles to proactively recommend products like credit cards, online banking, and insurance.
  • Cash Control: Maintain and balance a cash drawer daily within established credit union variance limits.
  • Compliance: Adhere strictly to internal controls and federal regulations, including BSA, AML, OFAC, and Reg CC.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills to explain financial concepts to diverse members.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot technical or accounting issues independently and logically.
  • Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy in data entry, cash handling, and compliance documentation.
  • Multitasking: Comfort moving fluidly between transactional tasks and deep consultative conversations.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with core banking software, CRM tools, and standard office suites.

Education and Experience

 

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in business or finance preferred.
  • Experience: Cash handling, customer service, and previous credit union or banking experience strongly preferred.
