The Department of Microbiology at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track position starting Fall 2027. We seek a broadly trained candidate with a passion for teaching and expertise in bioinformatics. The candidate will be hired as an assistant professor in Microbiology. The successful candidate will support the development of a bioinformatics program that will have collaborations with other departments in the College and across the University, including Microbiology, Botany and Plant Ecology, Zoology, and Health Sciences. Potential collaborations also exist with the Department of Mathematics and the School of Computer Science, which provides an interdisciplinary Master of Data Science degree. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach bioinformatics, computational biology, and upper-division microbiology courses, including genetics, physiology, or industrial microbiology.
