What We Do
Lutheran Services of Iowa is a social services nonprofit that is looking for a talented student to join our
team. You'll work with a team that enjoys working hard to meet goals and exceed expectations while
having fun along the way.
What You'll Do
The Marketing and Communications Intern will have the opportunity to build internal/external
relationships with agency and media partners. The intern will also gain experience with writing press
releases and client stories, creating and posting content for social media sites, assisting with special
events, creating promotional materials, and managing multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be
ready to jump in, eager to learn and grow, receive feedback, and engage with the team in a meaningful
way.
Marketing and Communications Duties and Responsibilities
Write press releases and media pitches to promote events and attract attention for targeted
media.
Conduct interviews and draft client stories to be used in marketing materials, for stakeholder
communications, and on the agency website and social media channels.
Create social media posts and update agency channels including Facebook, Instagram, and
LinkedIn.
Assist with photography needs, as needed.
Support the marketing and communications team in creating collateral pieces.
Assist with special events including the planning, promotion, and execution.
Adhere to LSI brand and logo guidelines.
Complete projects according to deadlines.
Collaborate with the marketing director and communications coordinators.
What You'll Need
Experience in or pursuing a degree in public relations, marketing, advertising, or a related field
Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
Basic skills in social media, photography, and graphic design
Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign desired.
Enjoys working closely with a team while also completing individual projects
