Medication Technician Job Description

As a Travel Medication Technician, you'll play an essential role in ensuring residents receive safe, timely, and accurate medication administration while providing exceptional resident-centered care. You'll work alongside nurses and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to promote the health, comfort, and well-being of every resident.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications accurately according to physician orders and facility policies

  • Document medication administration and resident responses in the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Observe residents for medication side effects or changes in condition and report concerns promptly

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed

  • Maintain accurate medication records and inventory

  • Follow infection prevention and medication safety protocols

  • Communicate effectively with nurses, providers, residents, and family members

  • Support a positive, compassionate, and team-oriented environment

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Current Washington State Medication Technician (Med Tech) certification (or eligibility)

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred if required by facility

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

  • Minimum 1 year of recent Medication Technician experience, preferably in Long-Term Care or Assisted Living

  • Strong medication administration knowledge and documentation skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
