Director of Nursing Responsibilities

As the Director of Nursing, you will oversee all nursing operations within the facility while ensuring exceptional resident care, regulatory compliance, and staff leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the nursing department, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs

• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations

• Oversee resident care planning, quality assurance, and clinical outcomes

• Develop and maintain staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage

• Monitor infection prevention and control programs

• Participate in surveys and regulatory inspections

• Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development for nursing staff

• Collaborate with physicians, therapy teams, administration, and interdisciplinary departments

• Review and implement policies, procedures, and best practices

• Manage clinical budgets and resource utilization

• Promote a positive culture focused on resident satisfaction and employee engagement

Qualifications

Required Education:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Licensure & Certifications:

• Active Kansas RN License (or ability to obtain)

• Current BLS Certification

• CPR Certification

Experience Requirements:

• Previous Director of Nursing (DON), Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), or Nurse Leadership experience required

• Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) leadership experience strongly preferred

• Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, survey preparedness, and quality improvement initiatives

• Experience managing nursing teams, staffing, and clinical operations
