Summary:
As the Upper Biology Lab Coordinator within the Science Labs, individuals in this role will support the preparation and organization of one or more of the upper biology labs (Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Microbial Genetics). This position involves preparing materials, maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols within all lab spaces, providing support for occurring labs and instructors, completing general lab upkeep and maintenance tasks as well as the organization of packages and inventory. Regular communication and ongoing training with student managers and supervisors are required. This position requires being organized, proactive, and detailed-oriented with strong time management skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain meticulous records, have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and part of a team. Students will gain valuable experience in the science field/laboratory and learn workplace skills while contributing to the overall functionality of the natural sciences division lab spaces.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare lab set up and materials in advance.
Check in with professors for any addition needs.
Maintain cleanliness and safety protocols within all the lab space.
Support occurring labs for any additional needs while on clock.
Complete general lab upkeep and maintenance tasks.
Receive packages and inventory materials per the online inventory protocol.
Complete any additional lab prep assignments with other Lab Coordinators.
Regularly check in with supervisors for additional tasks.
Participate in ongoing training and regular meetings with student managers.

Minimum Qualifications:
Highly organized, detailed-oriented, and proactive.

Problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and part of a team.
Must be a current full-time undergraduate student, majoring in a science field at Maryville University.
Must be Federal Work-Study eligible (a US citizen that has filled out the FAFSA) and available to work during the academic year.
Must commit to at least 10 hours per week.
