**Position Overview**
The Upper School Spanish teacher will instruct students in the methodologies of reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and writing/composition. Candidates should also be well-versed in effective instructional and behavior-management strategies for Upper School students (grades 9-12). The classes for this position include (but are not limited to) Spanish 1, Spanish 2, Spanish 3, and Spanish 4. This Upper School Teacher is a dynamic, student-centered educator responsible for creating and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction that supports the academic and personal growth of Upper School students (grades 9-12). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching, a commitment to fostering a positive classroom environment, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents in a close-knit, independent school community.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and deliver rigorous and relevant lessons aligned with the schools curriculum and mission.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student voice and engagement.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and assessment tools to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and well-being. Serve as an advisory teacher to a small group of students, supporting their academic and social-emotional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning, grade-level teams, and school-wide initiatives - attending all scheduled meetings
- Participate in school life beyond the classroom, including attending events, retreats, athletics, clubs, field trips (overnight), and/or coaching responsibilities.
- Uphold and model the values, standards, and expectations of the school community, including confidentiality regarding school matters
**Family Engagement and Communication:**
- Communicate regularly with families through Google Classroom, email, and conferences
- Build strong partnerships with parents to support student growth and well-being
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding academic and behavioral updates

- Demonstrate a genuine love for teaching children and a strong commitment to their academic and personal development
- Model integrity, empathy, and professionalism in all aspects of school life
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelors degree in education or related field required; Masters degree preferred
- Ideally, this person is bilingual in Spanish and English
- At least three years of teaching experience in a middle or high school setting
- Proven ability to design engaging curriculum and differentiate instruction
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Comfortable working in an independent, faith-based school environment that values respect, responsibility, service, and integrity
