Job Title Upward Bound Coordinator Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the Upward Bound Project Director in the development, coordination, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all activities and services throughout the Academic and Summer Components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Project Director with the implementation of a college preparatory curriculum (math, English, composition, science, and foreign language), test preparation, and tutorials, designed to meet the academic needs of each participant.
Assist in the identification, recruitment and selection of project participants.
Assist with the development of all services and activities for the academic year and summer components.
Coordinates the assessment of all participants and development of all Individual Service Plans and Academic Progress Plans.
Assists the Project Director in the recruitment and supervision of all project tutors, instructors, and activity assistants.
Coordinates and supervises the monthly Saturday Academic Sessions, after school tutorials, and Summer Component activities.
Maintains a caseload of Project Participants and provide them with services and activities as indicated on their Individual Service Plans.
Monitors participants' academic progress; and provides assigned participants with individualized academic advising, career information, and college planning activities.
Coordinates the collection of data and submits related reports.
Establishes and maintains participant data in hard copy and electronic files.
Maintains and manages the project database.
Assists in the preparation of all project related reports submitted to agency and federal officials.
Acts as a liaison to target schools, local government and community agencies.
Performs related tasks and duties as assigned by the Project Director.
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
Bachelor's degree required, preferred in the area of competency (Math, Science, Education, Communications, or related field from an accredited institution). Master's degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum of three years of appropriate and relevant professional experience working in a TRIO federal program, or similar pre-collegiate program for disadvantaged and at-risk students.
Experience advising and assisting students with the college admissions and financial aid processes.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to adhere to the University and the Upward Bound policies and procedures.
Ability to handle confidential matters, while complying with FERPA and privacy regulations.
Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
Proficiency with an integrated administrative system and current computer software programs.
Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with high schools and communities.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Outstanding interpersonal and community-relations skills to support a high-profile office with tact and diplomacy while interacting with all levels of the University.
Ability to provide and demonstrate quality customer service.
Demonstrated credibility to work well under pressure and to consistently meet deadlines while maintaining a high attention for details.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and office atmosphere.
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Ability to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate programs and short - and long - range goals.
Ability to effectively plan, organize resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines while working on multiple tasks/projects.
Knowledge of academic instructional and tutorial support services.
Knowledge of academic, economic, social, and cultural needs of disadvantaged youth.
