Role Summary

Urban Outfitters is looking for Buying Interns to join us for the summer. These interns would focus on either the Accessories or Beauty and support our growing categories within the business. This person would assist with all buying functions related to their category and engage in new brand prospecting research to support future growth initiatives.

Summer Internship Program Application Process:

• Apply to one (1) internship posting that best aligns with your interests and skills. If there is a project component included in the application (see role qualifications below), it is required and must be submitted at the time of application to be considered for the position.
• Complete a Video Interview: Candidates selected to move forward will receive an email with a link to complete a video interview. Once the email is received, candidates will have two (2) days to complete this portion of the application.
• Interviews with our internal teams will be scheduled on a rolling basis.

Role Responsibilities

• Trend analysis + product support: assist the team in researching product and customer trends across social media, retail, and pop culture to help inform seasonal product direction and support design and merchandising decisions.

• Data + customer feedback analysis: help gather and interpret sales data and customer reviews to identify popular styles, fit issues, and opportunities for improvement in upcoming collections.

• Sample management + organization: support the tracking, labeling, and organization of product samples to ensure the team has easy access for fittings, meetings, and photoshoots.

• Cross-functional + vendor communication: collaborate with internal teams like design, buying, and marketing, and assist in communicating with vendors to help keep projects on track and ensure product accuracy.

Role Qualifications

• Trend knowledge: passionate about the UO customer and fashion trend with an eye for emerging trends across social media, street style, and retail.

• Time management: able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment by staying organized, prioritizing effectively, and planning ahead.

• Adaptability: comfortable shifting gears and jumping into new tasks as needed, with a flexible mindset and a willingness to learn on the go.

• Communication: clear and confident communicator who can collaborate with team members and external partners in a professional and respectful way.

Project Requirement:

Create a concept board with 3 - 5 beauty, shoes, and accessories trends you see emerging for the Urban Outfitters customer in Fall 2027.

• Pull imagery from Streetwear, Pinterest, Social, runway, etc. to show your point of view - merchandisers, make it into a story!
• We are looking for forward thinkers showing future inspirational trends that move beyond where we are currently or where we have been, so show us fun trends we should have in our assortment!
• Our team is inspired by story telling so please make this as visually creative and compelling as you want!
