Client Overview: Atrium is seeking, on behalf of our client, an
Urban Planning Senior Manager based in West Palm Beach, FL. The position requires strong leadership and collaboration to ensure successful planning and execution of community development initiatives.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $120k - $150k
Position Overview: The Urban Planning Senior Manager will lead efforts to establish and implement community visions, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to bring projects from concept to completion. This role will provide strategic guidance on land acquisition, conceptual layouts, and risk assessment during due diligence. The ideal candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities of the Urban Planning Senior Manager:- Schedule and participate in pre-development, zoning, and platting meetings with municipal staff and key stakeholders to ensure compliance and alignment with project goals.
- Create and manage project schedules for all communities relating to entitlement, zoning, planning, and community amenities to meet approval timelines.
- Attend Planning and Zoning meetings and City Council meetings as needed to represent the organization's interests.
- Manage the community amenity process and maintain clear communication with appropriate parties and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate site details (count, classification, design, etc.) in internal systems and planning platforms for consistency and reporting.
- Keep master plans current, including design changes and lot mix, and oversee internal processes such as timely lot fit and sales release.
Required Experience/Skills for the Urban Planning Senior Manager:- Minimum of 10 years of experience in site planning, master planning, or park design.
- Proven experience supervising, managing, and developing staff planners.
- Strong proficiency with design software to develop commercial or government projects while ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Urban Planning Senior Manager:- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- In-depth research capabilities and understanding of rules, regulations, and codes.
- Experience working with municipal agencies and navigating entitlement processes.
- Familiarity with large-scale community development projects.
- Ability to identify risks and opportunities during due diligence phases.
Education Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or Urban Planning is required.
- An advanced degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- Professional certifications (e.g., AICP) are a plus.
- Continuing education in zoning, land use, or community planning is desirable.
- Knowledge of sustainable planning practices is advantageous.
