Urgent Care Physician (MD/DO)

Position Summary

The Urgent Care Physician provides prompt, high-quality medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and minor injuries. This role focuses on efficient patient evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in a fast-paced urgent care environment, emphasizing patient safety, evidence-based practice, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute illnesses and non-life-threatening injuries
  • Perform medical procedures commonly seen in urgent care settings, including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound care, and foreign body removal
  • Order, interpret, and review diagnostic tests such as laboratory studies, EKGs, and imaging (e.g., X-ray)
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines
  • Provide patient education on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
  • Triage and stabilize patients and refer to emergency services when higher levels of care are required
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, advanced practice providers, and ancillary services
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record
  • Adhere to quality, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Completion of an accredited residency program (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics)
  • Board eligible or board certified in an applicable specialty
  • Active or eligible state medical license
  • DEA registration or eligibility
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
