Qualifications
Duly Licensed Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with hospital and PTH privileges in good standing. Board qualified or Board Eligible; Overall knowledge of medical office patient care; Knowledge of confidentiality issues involved with release of medical information; Must have excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with staff and providers at other medical facilities.
Work Experience
2 years previous experience working as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred
Education
Must have and maintain: California NP & RN Licenses, DEA License, BLS Certification; Must be graduate of an accredited college or university training program; Must be licensed in accordance with the requirements of the Nursing board and applicable regulations of the Board of Registered Nurses

Examples of Duties
- Examine and evaluate patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and episodic medical conditions to determine appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
- Document patient encounters, clinical findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Explain procedures, diagnoses, treatment options, follow-up recommendations, and test results to patients and families.
- Obtain, compile, and record patient medical information, including health history, presenting complaints, physical examination findings, and treatment plans.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, including point-of-care testing and imaging studies as appropriate, to evaluate acute medical conditions.
- Perform urgent care procedures including, but not limited to, injections, immunizations, splinting, laceration repair, incision and drainage, wound care, foreign body removal, and infection management.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers regarding complex or high-risk patient presentations.
- Prescribe or administer medications, treatments, vaccinations, and other therapies necessary to manage acute illnesses and injuries.
- Prescribe medication dosages, routes, and frequencies based on patient-specific factors and current clinical guidelines.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, medications, treatment plans, self-care, injury prevention, and follow-up care.
- Determine appropriate patient disposition, including discharge, referral, transfer to higher levels of care, or emergency department evaluation when clinically indicated.
- Monitor and reassess patients during their urgent care visit and modify treatment plans as necessary.
- Refer patients to primary care providers, specialists, emergency departments, or other healthcare services as appropriate.
- Direct and coordinate activities of medical assistants, nurses, students, and other clinical support staff as assigned.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment and infection prevention measures to ensure patient and staff safety.
Additional Responsibilities
- Check Peach Tree Healthcare email and NextGen PAQ daily and respond to communications in a timely manner.
- Participate in peer chart review, quality improvement initiatives, risk management activities, and clinical outcome improvement programs as assigned.
- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of clinical protocols and standardized procedures related to urgent care services.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medical records in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Scope of Practice
- Provide evaluation and treatment of episodic illnesses, minor injuries, and urgent medical conditions according to approved standardized procedures and under physician supervision as required by applicable law.
- Function under approved standardized procedures in collaboration with supervising physician(s).
- Practice within the scope of licensure, competency, organizational policies, and applicable state and federal laws.
- Apply knowledge of urgent care, emergency assessment, and ambulatory medicine principles to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Order appropriate diagnostic, screening, and follow-up studies related to the patient's presenting condition.
- Utilize knowledge of pharmacology when prescribing medications and therapies.
- Provide patient and family education related to acute conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Seek physician consultation for any patient, procedure, or clinical situation that exceeds the provider's level of competence or scope of practice.
- Coordinate referrals to community resources, specialty care, primary care, behavioral health, or emergency services as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance clinical competency through continuing education, in-services, staff meetings, and educational programs; meet all licensing and certification requirements.
- Participate in recredentialing activities as required.
- Comply with all HIPAA, Compliance Program, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Participate in student intern, preceptor, or job shadow programs as applicable.
- Provide emergency stabilization and treatment within the capabilities of the urgent care setting when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Abide by all terms and conditions of the employment agreements.
Travel Requirements
Occasionally may travel to other sites to attend meetings or training, occasionally overnight for training.
