Physician Urgent Care Martinez, CA
This role is ideally suited for physicians trained in Emergency Medicine, or those with backgrounds in Family Practice or Internal Medicine who possess significant Emergency Medicine experience.
Organization: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Northern California Health Care System Location: Martinez VA Medical Center, 150 Muir Rd, Martinez, CA 94553 (Community-Based Outpatient Clinic)
? Position Highlights
Schedule: Full-time, MondayFriday; Clinical hours approximate ~36 hours/week, flexible within urgent care framework
Setting: On-site urgent care at Martinez VA CBOCacute, nonlife-threatening conditions only (after-hours emergencies are referred to 911)
? Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and treat Veterans presenting with minor injuries, acute illnesses, and non-critical conditions
Order diagnostic tests (labs, imaging), perform point-of-care procedures, manage medications, and initiate referrals
Collaborate with multidisciplinary VA teams to ensure continuity of care and follow-up
Adhere to VA clinical protocols, documentation standards, and veteran-centered care guidelines
? Qualifications & Requirements
Degree: MD or DO from accredited institution
Licensure: Full, unrestricted U.S. medical license
Training: Residency in Emergency, Family, or Internal Medicine with significant urgent care/emergency experience preferred
Board Status: Board-certified or board-eligible
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required (exceptions when qualified citizens unavailable)
Retirement: Federal pension (vests in 5 years) + Thrift Savings Plan with matching
Insurance: Federal health, dental, vision, term life, long-term care
CME Stipend: $1,000/year for full-time, board-certified providers
Malpractice Protection: VA covers liability and tail coverage
EDRP: Up to $200,000 in educational debt repayment over 15 years (eligibility required within 4 months of hire)
