About the Role Bighorn Staffing is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse to provide outpatient nursing care at Pinon Health Center, an Indian Health Service (IHS) outpatient clinic serving the Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona. This is a nonpersonal services contract position supporting a collegial care team offering primary care, women's health, dental, and community nursing services.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct outpatient nursing care including patient assessment, vital signs, triage, and treatment support
- Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and clinical protocols
- Perform wound care, injections, and other nursing procedures within scope of practice
- Document all patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner within the clinic's electronic health record system
- Educate patients on disease management, preventive care, and treatment plans
- Collaborate with physicians, APRNs/FNPs, and allied health staff as part of a multidisciplinary care team
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, IHS, and Joint Commission standards
What You'll Need
- Current, unrestricted RN license (compact license accepted where applicable)
- Current BLS certification (required); PALS, ACLS, NLS, and/or ATCN/TNCC as appropriate to duty section
- Up-to-date immunizations: MMR, Hepatitis B (or titer/declination), Varicella, Tdap, annual TB screening, annual influenza vaccine, COVID-19 vaccination documentation
- Ability to pass a federal background investigation and fingerprinting (OPM eQIP)
- Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity working with American Indian and Alaska Native communities
- Reliable transportation; valid driver's license

Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

About the Role Bighorn Ridgerunners is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse for a nonpersonal services contract at Pinon Health Center, an outpatient IHS clinic on the Navajo Nation. You'll provide direct primary and walk-in acute care to patients across the full age spectrum, working alongside a collegial team of providers offering primary care, women's health, dental, and behavioral health services.
What You'll Do
- Provide professional medical services and direct patient care from birth through end of life
- Take patient histories, perform physical exams, and use clinical judgment to reach diagnoses and treatment plans
- Provide walk-in acute care for a wide range of conditions including sepsis, fractures, respiratory conditions, psychiatric presentations, and chronic disease management
- Prescribe medications and therapeutic modalities as clinically indicated, including pain management
- Maintain complete, timely documentation in the clinic's electronic health record system
- Coordinate care with allied health professionals, referrals, and specialists as needed
- Participate in peer review and quality assurance activities per Joint Commission standards
What You'll Need
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a minimum of 2 years in-person (face-to-face) clinical experience as a Certified FNP/APN
- No gap in clinical service longer than 3 consecutive months in the 3 months prior to start
- Board certification through a recognized FNP credentialing body (e.g., ANCC or AANP)
- Current, unrestricted RN license and APRN/NP license
- Current DEA registration (Schedules II–V)
- Current CPR, BLS, and PALS certifications (ACLS/ATLS recommended)
- Valid state driver's license
- Ability to pass a federal background investigation (OPM eQIP) and provide an NPDB report
- At least 3 current professional references from healthcare providers familiar with your clinical practice
Compensation & Schedule Pay starts at $85+/hour. Full-time, on-site, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (telework not authorized for this position).
