Position Overview
Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Full-Time Urology APP to join it's growing team of 3 Urologists and 2 APPs. The Urology APP provides comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic urological conditions in collaboration with urologists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The APP evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages patients in an outpatient setting. Opportunity for 1st Assist in OR is available if desired. Inpatient rounding is not required but opportunity is available if desired.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage common urological conditions such as:
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
- Kidney stones
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Overactive bladder and urinary incontinence
- Erectile dysfunction
- Hematuria
- Prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer follow-up
- Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, imaging, and urodynamic testing.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies.
Procedural Responsibilities
- Perform office-based procedures as permitted by training and credentialing, including:
- Catheter insertion and management
- Voiding trials
- Bladder scans
- Bladder instillations
- Post-operative care and wound management
Patient Education
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care.
- Provide counseling regarding surgical procedures and post-operative expectations.
- Promote adherence to treatment plans and follow-up care.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Collaborate closely with urologists, nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate referrals, consultations, and continuity of care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality assurance activities.
Qualifications:
- ANCC, AANPCB, or NCCPA board certification
- Current state license as an Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- BLS upon hire
- DEA license
- Prior experience in urology, surgery, oncology, or primary care preferred but not mandatory
- Previous experience with electronic health record
