    Job Description

    Urology Physician Assistant

Patients with stones, retention, infection, prostate disease, and post-operative needs cannot wait on a crowded surgical schedule. You will own a defined share of the urology service—clinic, procedures, and consults—so surgeons stay in the OR and every patient leaves with a diagnosis, a plan, and a follow-up. Your impact is access, fewer missed complications, and care patients can explain back to you.

    Performance Objectives

    • Run a full clinic panel and close each visit with a documented diagnosis, treatment plan, and follow-up interval.
    • Perform and assist office procedures—catheter management, cystoscopy support, biopsy assistance, and urodynamics—within privileges and protocol.
    • Evaluate new consults and post-operative patients so complications are identified early and length of stay stays on target.
    • Complete imaging, labs, and referrals before the surgeon’s next decision point.
    • Teach medications, devices, and surgical options until patients can restate risks, alternatives, and next steps.
    • Finish same-day notes that support coding, quality measures, and clean handoffs.
    • Cover scheduled call or inpatient duties without gaps in continuity.

    Environment & Resources

You will practice with urologists, nurses, and medical assistants in a busy clinic and hospital service. A dedicated MA, order sets, and EMR templates support your panel. You report to the lead urologist or APP supervisor, with structured onboarding and privileges granted by demonstrated competency.

    Essential Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification.
    • Active state PA license and DEA registration, or ability to obtain both before start.
    • Urology, surgical, or inpatient experience managing retention, stones, infection, hematuria, and post-op care.
    • Competence with catheter placement, drain and wound care, and assisting in cystoscopy or biopsy.
    • Independent clinic judgment and documentation that stands up to coding and peer review.

    Role Selling Points

    • Real procedural work, not clinic-only support.
    • Direct partnership with surgeons who expect the APP to own outcomes.
    • Defined clinic blocks and clear call expectations.
    • Competitive pay, benefits, and CME tied to access and quality—not seat time.

If you want ownership of urologic care, apply with your CV and a short note on the procedures and patient problems you handle best.
