    Role Name: HVAC Performance Engineer
    Location: Auburn Hills, MI


    Job Description
    The HVAC Performance Engineer will ensure that vehicle functional objectives are achieved and will recommend actions to the product team. The role involves conducting functional system reviews (simulation and testing), HVAC system status discussions with program leadership, development test planning with lab engineers, and annual hot trip execution for assigned programs.
    The engineer will lead communication and reporting of issues, including status updates and driving issue resolution. Responsibilities also include proactive planning and tracking of vehicle validation, active support of aero/thermal attributes, and DVP&R test execution and reporting. Occasional interaction with exterior styling studio members may be required.
     
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Vehicle thermal system instrumentation and testing
    • BEV & ICE main vehicle HVAC system diagnosis and troubleshooting
    • BEV energy consumption solutions
    • Support vehicle validation planning, execution, and reporting
    • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
     
    Preferred Skills:
    • Experience in thermal development, HVAC, or cooling systems
    • Experience with data acquisition systems
    • Experience with drive cell / wind tunnel testing
    • Experience working with or directing bargaining unit mechanics
    • Ability to work in cross-functional teams
    • Leadership experience
    • Strong communication and technical writing skills
    • Understanding of HVAC systems, heat transfer, and testing/instrumentation
