Job Description As a Field Tester, you will be responsible for the remote operation, calibration, testing, and field deployment of the client’s semi-autonomous and autonomous robotic systems. You will apply real-world knowledge, technical skills, and hands-on experience to support the design, development, calibration, testing, and deployment of autonomous robotic systems. This role includes executing hands-on and semi-autonomous test operations and training colleagues and clients on the safe and effective use of robotic systems and their command-and-control software. This position combines aspects of software quality analysis, advanced technical testing, operations management, and technical training. The Field Tester will help deploy cutting-edge robotic solutions designed to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity across a variety of industries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment manually, through teleoperations, semi-autonomously, and autonomously to evaluate and improve performance, functionality, and reliability.
Maintain a safe testing and fielding environment by following company safety standards, industry standards, regulations, and site-specific safety protocols.
Assist in developing and enforcing safe work instructions and procedures.
Collaborate with program teams, engineering teams, industry experts, and test team members to understand the Concept of Operations (CONOP) and planned use cases.
Help design and execute tests to evaluate engineering and customer requirements.
Document daily inspections, test procedures, results, findings, and maintenance activities.
Prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.
Perform minor routine preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure safety, functionality, longevity, and performance.
Work with engineering and support teams to calibrate, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical issues involving robotic systems and equipment.
Help define test requirements and configure test tracks to simulate real-world operating conditions.
Support demonstrations to confirm systems are safe, operationally effective, and suitable for internal teams and customers.
Work closely with engineers, software developers, technical writers, technical trainers, and other cross-functional teams to understand system requirements.
Support development, calibration, testing, documentation, training, and field deployment activities.
Assist in developing training plans and curriculum for robotic systems.
Conduct vehicle- and robot-specific training for team members and customers.
Perform onsite system configuration, calibration, acceptance testing, and customer training.
Support the stabilization and deployment of new technologies at customer sites.
Essential Education, Work Experience, and Skills:
5–7 years of experience working with heavy equipment across relevant industries.
Operations Manager experience or other strong leadership experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Robotics, Agriculture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
OSHA 30 certification required.
Strong technical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to operate and evaluate heavy equipment safely.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with engineering, operations, software, and customer-facing teams.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work effectively in indoor and outdoor environments for approximately 6–10 hours per day.
Ability to enter and exit equipment approximately 10 times per day.
Ability to frequently bend, stoop, crouch, and reach while installing, testing, and inspecting equipment.
Ability to safely perform duties in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
Ability to document test results using a laptop and mobile phone throughout the shift.
Ability to detect, identify, and respond appropriately to safety risks and environmental conditions.
Ability to perform essential job functions while exposed to environmental allergens and fluctuating temperatures.
