Senior Cloud Platform Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced contract engineer to join our team. In this highly technical role, you will augment our existing engineering team to deliver, validate, maintain, and automate the deployment of CCP infrastructure and platform services within highly secure, disconnected (air-gapped) customer environments.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise across VMware virtualization, Linux systems administration, infrastructure automation, Kubernetes ecosystems, and air-gapped software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• On-Prem Platform Delivery: Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere/ESXi environments supporting cloud workloads, managing platform packaging, installation, and lifecycle management for SilverCreek deployments.

• Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure automation, automate provisioning workflows via Morpheus, support Git-based CI/CD pipelines, and build automated validation frameworks and smoke tests.

• Air-Gapped & Regulated Support: Architect and support software delivery into disconnected/restricted environments, maintain private package repositories/image registries, handle certificate lifecycles/PKI, and ensure compliance with STIG, FIPS, and secure deployment standards.

• Platform Operations: Administer Linux infrastructure and Kubernetes platform services, troubleshoot complex networking, storage, and virtualization issues, and participate in root cause analysis and operational readiness reviews.

Required Technical Skills

• VMware Infrastructure (Highest Priority): Deep administration experience with vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, cluster configuration, datastores, HA, DRS, and VM lifecycle management.

• Platform Automation: Proficiency in Terraform (required), Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies, Git workflows, and CI/CD automation.

• Linux Administration: Advanced Linux systems administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, OS lifecycle management, and shell scripting.

• Kubernetes Ecosystem: Kubernetes administration/troubleshooting, Helm package management, container lifecycles, and cluster operations.

• Cloud Management Platforms: Hands-on experience with Morpheus (preferred), VMware Aria/vRealize, CloudBolt, or comparable private cloud platforms.

Preferred Skills & Background

• Air-Gapped & Disconnected Environments: Offline package management, artifact bundling, container image curation, private registries, and secure software delivery.

• Image & VM Engineering: Golden images, VM templates, OVF/OVA workflows, cloud-init, Sysprep, and Packer.

• Networking & Storage: VLANs, vSwitches, DNS/DHCP/NTP, NFS, iSCSI, and vSAN.

• Security & Compliance: STIG implementation, FIPS-compliant hardening, certificate management, and secure infrastructure practices.

• Validation & Testing: Experience with Goss, pytest, or infrastructure testing automation.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of infrastructure or platform engineering experience.

• Proven track record supporting enterprise private cloud or on-premises platforms.

• Experience working in regulated, security-sensitive, or air-gapped environments.

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and independent execution abilities.
