The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Comparative Medicine Trainer for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in Cambridge, MA. Details for the position are as follows:

Job Title: Comparative Medicine Trainer
Location: Cambridge, MA On-site
Pay Rate: $29.99/hr
Duration: 4 Months

Job Description

  • Deliver hands-on training for laboratory animal procedures involving mice and rats.
  • Train research and husbandry staff on dosing, blood collection, anesthesia monitoring, restraint, and animal handling techniques.
  • Develop, review, and update SOPs, training materials, and computer-based training (CBT) modules.
  • Coordinate training schedules, maintain electronic training records, and manage training documentation.
  • Support vivarium operations, training colonies, and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, IACUC, and research teams to implement new animal research procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional animal care and regulatory standards.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of laboratory animal or comparative medicine experience.

Required Skills

  • Hands-on laboratory animal training with rodents (mice and rats).
  • Rodent handling, restraint, dosing, blood collection, anesthesia monitoring, and clinical observations.
  • Laboratory animal husbandry and vivarium operations.
  • IACUC compliance and Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
  • AAALAC accreditation standards and animal welfare regulations.
  • SOP development, revision, and training documentation.
  • Computer-Based Training (CBT) development and training record management.
  • Electronic training management systems and compliance documentation.
  • Audit and inspection support for laboratory animal programs.

Preferred Skills

  • LATG (Laboratory Animal Technologist) certification.
  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, or preclinical research experience.
  • Experience working with veterinarians, comparative medicine, or laboratory animal science teams.
  • Experience developing and implementing laboratory animal training programs.
