Position Summary
The Wellsite Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of geothermal well construction operations at assigned drilling locations. This role oversees drilling contractors and service companies, makes real-time operational decisions within the approved well program, controls wellsite costs, and serves as the primary company representative on site. Two supervisors rotate on each active location to provide continuous operational coverage.

Position Summary

This role oversees drilling contractors and service companies, makes real-time operational decisions within the approved well program, controls wellsite costs, and serves as the primary company representative on site. Two supervisors rotate on each active location to provide continuous operational coverage.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment
- Exercise stop-work authority whenever safety conditions require.
- Lead and enforce safety standards for all personnel on site.
- Conduct pre-job safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and ensure Permit-to-Work compliance.
- Support incident reporting, investigations, and emergency response readiness, including drills and medevac procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory HSE requirements, including H2S and high-temperature fluid handling procedures.
- Execute the approved well program safely and efficiently.
- Supervise drilling contractors and service company activities.
- Make real-time operational decisions and coordinate program deviations with the Drilling Manager.
- Manage hard rock drilling conditions, including lost circulation, fractured formations, hole cleaning, and bit performance.
- Oversee air, aerated, and underbalanced drilling operations.
- Supervise casing running, cementing, wellhead installation, and high-temperature service applications.
- Coordinate rig mobilization, demobilization, and rig moves.
- Monitor and control wellsite costs in real time.
- Verify contractor time, materials, and service records before approval.
- Prepare daily drilling reports, cost reports, and morning call updates.
- Document operational events that may result in change orders.
- Provide cost and schedule updates to the Project Manager.
- Escalate well program deviations, well integrity issues, and technical concerns to the Drilling Manager.
- Escalate commercial and schedule issues to the Project Manager.
- Provide operational feedback to the well engineering team.
- Participate in post-well reviews and lessons learned.
- Serve as the senior company representative on location.
- Host and orient customer representatives and visitors.
- Communicate operational updates clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support vendor performance management and document non-conformances.
- 8+ years of wellsite drilling supervision experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and relevant supervisory experience.
- Experience drilling in hard rock formations (geothermal, mining, mineral exploration, large-diameter, or water well drilling).
- Experience with air, aerated, or underbalanced drilling operations.
- Strong knowledge of lost circulation management, including LCM strategies and cement decision-making.
- Experience supervising drilling contractors and service companies.
- Working knowledge of casing running, cementing, and wellhead installation.
- Experience with wellsite cost tracking, contractor verification, and daily reporting.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including:
- IADC WellSharp or IWCF Well Control
- H2S Certification
- First Aid and site access requirements
- Ability to meet medical and fitness-for-duty requirements for remote field work.
- Direct geothermal well construction experience.
- High-temperature drilling and steam return experience.
- Large-diameter tophole construction experience.
- Directional drilling experience in hard rock formations.
- Experience on fixed-price or turnkey drilling projects.
- Experience representing an operator or turnkey contractor.
- Familiarity with enterprise reporting and well planning systems.

- Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, work at height, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Subject to company, customer, and regulatory drug and alcohol testing.
